Police have reopened Melbourne’s inner city Flagstaff station, after the busy CBD stop was earlier evacuated following reports of a man with a gun.

All trains bypassed Flagstaff and heavily-armed officers from the Critical Response Team locked the area down about 9am.

The station and at least one train was searched and police later gave the all clear.

It’s understood no weapon was found.

Metro Trains spokesman James Ireland said the evacuation was triggered by reports of a person with a gun.
