As summer is approaching authorities are pleading with swimmers to use caution as the number of people drowning has jumped by ten per cent since last year. In the last 12 months in Australia 276 people fatally drowned.


As summer is approaching authorities are are pleading with swimmers to use caution as the number of people drowning has jumped by ten per cent since last year. A figure released Royal life Saving Society reveal that during the last 12 months 276 people fatally drowned in Australia. Stacey Pigeon from Royal life saving stated that many incidents of drowning involved recent migrants and new arrivals. "We have done ten years analysis of people who were born overseas which did show that 27 percent of the total drowning deaths were people born overseas" Said, Stacey Pigeon.

The main reasons of  for this high percentage of fatalities are inexperience with the danger of the beach and a lack of swimming skills.  

people need to be aware of the danger water present if they go swimming they do not have right set of swimming skills.
