The French pastry chef has reopened his cafe in Prahran, and is about to open two new locations in Doncaster and the CBD.

If the décor of in Prahran looks familiar with its pink tiles, plants and teal booths, you’re not going crazy. It’s where Pierrick Boyer’s first cafe opened a year ago.

Despite the initial success, Boyer had to close down the cafe after a few months because of the construction in the area, preventing customers to enter the building.  “We had to go into hibernation and wait for the construction to finish,” he explains.

Construction is now almost over and the footpath has reopened, which means the cafe, renamed Rêverie Cafe & Dessert, is open for business again. The concept of a French-Australian cafe and patisserie remains the same, with a few tweaks.

“We make our own croissant with pure butter, we make our cakes, our cookies,” says Boyer. Crowd favourites like the Charlotte Tiffany, a blueberry and black chocolate cake he created for his young daughter, are still on the menu.

As is the hazelnut croissant. “In the morning, with a good coffee or hot chocolate, we make our hazelnut croissants. Everybody knows almond croissants, but I put crushed hazelnuts on mine instead,” says Boyer. “ It’s tastier and different.”

The chef’s new favourite is a berry brownie made with dark chocolate, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.

If you’re looking to have a full meal, he recommends classics like the eggs Benedict with smoked ham hock or the wagyu burger with a homemade brioche bun. There are also plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes to choose from like miso baked cauliflower and mushrooms on toast.

If you can’t make it to Prahran, Boyer will soon open two other locations in Melbourne. The second will open mid-June at Westfield Doncaster and the third at the end of June or beginning of July in the new Ella complex in the CBD.

You can also order cakes for special events, as well as order from UberEats.
