16-year-old Indian Origin batsman, Jason Sangh, has become the youngest player ever to receive a contract from the NSW Cricket Team.
He scored a century on debut for Australia’s under-19 team against Pakistan in January this year and scored impressive in the Under-19 National Championships to come up the ranks of NSW Cricket.
On Thursday, the 16-year-old became the youngest Indian Origin player to bag a contract. Cricket Australia reports that after Josh Hazelwood and Jake Doran, Jason Sangha is the third player to earn a contract while still in high school.
"It's an absolute privilege, not everybody gets to play for their country. Right now I'm not trying to think about contracts or anything, on the outside it is nice that people are saying nice things and writing about you, if I keep focused then hopefully good things will come," Sangha said.
Besides Sangha, another Indian-origin player, Arjun Nair, too is a contracted player for the 2016-17 season. Nair is a spinner and is famous for his ‘doosra’ spin in the team.
