The Adelaide Oval posted two pictures on twitter with the wishes. One of the pictures showed the scoreboard displaying numbers that Kohli has against his name at the ground.
And the message was, “Happy Birthday @imVkohli The Indian cricket team captain has scored a total of 624 runs at an average of 89 in 8 innings at #AdelaideOval”.
Kohli responded affectionately. He said, “Thanks so much guys. Adelaide has a very special place in my memories and I love being in the city always. 😊 Cheers!”
Adelaide has been very special for Virat Kohli who celebrated his 29th birthday this Sunday. He scored his debut century at the ground back in 2012. He captained his first test on this ground when the then skipper was injured.
Though India lost the test, Kohli smashed centuries in both the innings. Two matches later, MS Dhoni stepped down from the Test cricket and Kohli took over.
He has three tons in four test innings on this ground. He scored a century against Pakistan in the World Cup and his highest (90) in T20 has also come at this very ground.
