33-year-old Sam Abraham was found dead at his Epping home in Melbourne in October 2015. At the time of his death, he was thought to have died a natural death.

However, almost a year later, detectives have arrested Sam’s wife Sofia and her male friend in connection with Sam’s death, the Herald Sun reported.

According to the report, detectives believe Sam was given cyanide by his wife Sofia.

Police carried out extensive investigation into Abraham’s death which includes intercepting Sofia’s phone calls and scouring through CCTV footage.

Before he died in October 2015, Sam had earlier faced an attempt on his life, just three months before his death, reported.

A Balaclava-clad man had attacked him near Lalor train station causing him grievous injuries on neck, shoulders.

Sam was able to remove the mask of the attacker but could not recognise him.

The police believe it was Sofia’s male friend, 34-year-old Arun Kamalasanan, a resident of Port Melbourne.

Both under arrest now have appeared in Melbourne Magistrate’s Court where Police asked for some more time to get her phone conversations translated.

The court has remanded them till February next year.
