The country had already banned international commercial flights for a week from March 22.
On Thursday, the Indian government, which has put the entire country into lockdown for 21 days, announced it was extending its ban on all scheduled international commercial passenger flights until midnight local time on April 14, 2020.
The Indian Directorate-General of Civil Aviation has however excluded international cargo operations and certain flights which have prior approval from DGCA.

India is currently on the third day of its 21-day lockdown. According to official figures, the country has 647 cases of COVID-19 and 16 people have died as on Thursday night.
Australia shut down its border to all visitors, except for citizens and permanent residents and their close family members, on March 19. The Australian Government has banned people from travelling overseas.
Australians must stay at least 1.5 metres away from other people. Indoors, there must be a density of no more than one person per four square metres of floor space.
