Virat Kohli, who took a break from the game in the middle of the India-Australia series to be with his wife for the birth of their child, shared the news on twitter.
“We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon,” he tweeted.
“We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes.”
“Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time.”
His tweet has already been tweeted over 55,000 times as the celebrities from all walks of life have congratulated the couple.
“Congratulations on the arrival of the little angel in your lives! May her life be blessed with good health & love,” wrote Sachin Tendulkar on twitter.
Kohli’s teammate Hardik Pandya who became the father of a child last year, welcomed the couple to parenthood.
“Congratulations brother and @anushkasharma. Welcome to parenthood. A big hug to the little one, who’ll give you happiness like you’ve never experienced before,” he posted on Instagram.
