Victoria Police have confirmed that a man has drowned at Lake Bellfield near Grampians National Park on Wednesday noon.
The man who died due to drowning has been identified as a 26-year-old Indian national, local newspaper reported.
Sergeant Scott Olsen said the man was studying at a university in Melbourne.
Police said the man and his three friends were on a day trip to Lake Bellfield and they were swimming at the Bellfield picnic area, when the drowning occurred.

His friends told the police that their friend was marginally swimming outside the designated swimming area.
“He got into trouble some distance from shore and couldn’t be dragged in by his friends,” he told .
Sergeant Olsen said the man was under the water for 25 minutes and was submerged when police arrived.
“He was located in two metres of water and pulled onto shore where we commenced CPR for 15 to 20 minutes before paramedics arrived,” he said.
“They performed CPR for another 15 minutes until they declared he couldn’t be resuscitated.”
The man was declared dead around 1pm.
The police have taken the statements of the eye-witnesses and said the man’s body will be taken to Melbourne where the investigation would be conducted for the coroner.
Police said swimming in Lake Bellfield outside the designated area could be dangerous for swimmers.
“There’s a lot of safety messages down there. It’s very cold and difficult to swim. It gets deep fairly quickly and can get very, very cold. People need to be wary. They were just marginally outside the designated swimming area. We don’t encourage swimming in that area,” he said.
