Disgraced Australian batsman David Warner, who was found to have masterminded the ball tampering scandal that shook the cricketing world, has been dealt with a double blow.

On Wednesday, Cricket Australia announced Warner will not be considered for any leadership positions in the future and has been suspended for 12 months. He also stepped down as captain of IPL Team, Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“In light of recent events, David Warner has stepped down as captain of SunRisers Hyderabad. The new captain of the team will be announced shortly,” Sunrisers Hyderabad CEO K. Shanmugam announced on their Twitter handle.
Both Warner and Smith have been banned from the Indian Premier League this year by the Board of Control for Cricket of India (BCCI).

They were the highest paid Australian cricketers of the tournament.

"The Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Wednesday took cognizance of the developments in the ball tampering incident involving Cricket Australia contracted cricketers – Mr Steve Smith, Mr David Warner and Mr Cameron Bancroft," a said.

"The CoA, in consultation with BCCI Acting President Mr CK Khanna, IPL Chairman Mr Rajeev Shukla and BCCI Acting Hon. Secretary Mr Amitabh Choudhary, has decided to ban Mr Smith and Mr Warner with immediate effect from participation in IPL 2018.
Meanwhile, Warner, along with the former captain Steve Smith and opening batsman Cameron Bancroft, have flown out of South Africa after investigation concluded that prior knowledge of the cheating scandal was confined to three players, Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft.

CA has suspended Warner and Smith from all international and domestic cricket for 12 months and Bancroft for 9 months.

Smith and Bancroft will also not be considered for team leadership positions until a minimum of 12 months after the conclusion of their respective suspensions from international and domestic cricket, said.

David Warner has been handed down lifetime ban from team leadership positions by Cricket Australia.

Smith, like Warner, who was banned by the International Cricket Council  for one Test and fined 100% of his match fee, has already stepped down as captain of IPL team, Rajasthan Royals. Ajinkya Rahane has replaced him as captain.

Smith had admitted that his side deliberately tried to tamper with the condition of the ball in order to make the ball swing more. Bancroft was caught on television cameras appearing to rub a yellow object on the ball before he was reported by the umpires.
