A 30-year-old father’s sudden death has left his family in a shock in Western Australia.

Perth-based Japneet Singh was "completely fine and normal and playing with his toddler daughters on Saturday, April 28, when he had a massive heart attack", his cousin, Simardeep Singh told SBS Hindi.

Mr Singh had been rushed to Fiona Stanley Hospital but died the following day.

“Mr Japneet Singh was cared for by the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) on the weekend of 28 and 29 April, 2018,” a South Metropolitan Health Service spokesperson told SBS Hindi, adding his case has been referred to the coroner.

“We cannot discuss any details of Mr Singh’s time at FSH due to patient confidentiality, but can confirm his case has been referred to the Coroner,” the spokesperson said.

The young father's death left behind his wife Sukhneet and their two daughters, aged two and four.

As the primary-income earner for the family, Simardeep Singh said his cousin's sudden death put his wife under additional stress during an already difficult time.

“He was a gentleman. He loved his kids and lived a normal life. He worked as a truck driver while his wife looked after the kids," Simardeep Singh said.

“He was the only income-earner and the family is left with a house mortgage without an income."

Encouraged by friends and members of the community, Simardeep Singh started a fundraising campaign on Facebook which has received more than $250k in donations.

"He had been living in Australia [for] a decade and had many friends. He was in Melbourne for five years before he moved to Perth and settled down with his family. He had many friends and everyone is in shock to learn about his death," he said.

“We are very thankful to everyone who has stood by the family and contributed."

Mr Singh's cousin said the family is arranging for his funeral to be held this week.
