Migration agents have been informed by New South Wales officials that the new list will include a broader range of occupations.
The Skilled Work Regional visa (Subclass 491) is a provisional visa for skilled workers. Under this visa, the New South Wales Government can nominate eligible qualified applicants who will commit to working in critical sectors in regional areas of the state.

“The NSW Skilled Occupation List for the Skilled Work Regional visa (Subclass 491) will be expanded from 1 April 2021 to include a broader range of occupations,” reads the statement.
Migration agent Chaman Preet says the announcement looks very promising.
“This announcement looks very promising in the current circumstances. The expansion of the occupation list comes as a ray of hope for many, although it does exclude those who are not living in regional NSW,” says Ms Preet of Migration and Education Experts.

Officials have also announced that candidates can continue to apply under Stream 1 (Living and working in regional NSW) and Stream 2 (Recently completed study in regional NSW).
Ms Preet says it is very important for visa hopefuls to strategise in order to maximise their chances of getting the state nomination.
