Jokowi visits Papua for the 17th time

After a visit to Australia and Papua New Guinea, President Joko Widodo paid a visit to Papua. This is Jokowi's 17th visit as president. Much more than any other Indonesian president, which shows Jokowi's concern for Papua.

There are still many problems in Papua that remain unresolved, even though Jokowi has repeatedly visited there. One of them is about cases of human rights violations.

Nicodemus Momo, Chairman of the Institute for the Study of Strategic Issues of Development Papua, Head of the Indonesian Catholic Student Association Center, St. Thomas Aquinas, explained the question.

In 2014, when he was just elected, Jokowi said that one of his promises was to resolve cases of human rights violations in Papua.
