A senate inquiry has recommended the government pass a controversial draft deportation law that would make it easier to deport those in immigration detention.

The bill gives the government the authority to force immigration detainees to comply with their removal from Australia, with a minimum 12-month jail sentence for those unwilling to co-operate.
