Ecuador says it is still hopeful of finding a long-term resolution to the situation of Wikileaks co-founder, Julian Assange.
Assange has remained in Ecuador's embassy in London for more than five years, even after Sweden dropped its investigation of sex-related allegations, because he is still subject to arrest in Britain for skipping bail.
Ecuador has granted Mr Assange citizenship in the hopes that it would grant him additional rights of diplomatic immunity so he can leave the embassy, but Britain's Foreign Office has rejected Ecuador's request for immunity.
Ecuador's foreign minister, Maria Fernanda Espinosa says Mr Assange has legitimate fears that Britain would extradite him to the United States to face charges over the multiple release of sensitive documents.
