Tarneit now boasts one of the largest populations of Indian community in Melbourne.
In the last ten years, the presence of parents of Indian migrants has increased significantly in the area. They can often be seen going out on walks and holding frequent meetings in the local parks.
Club 60 is the brainchild of Sunil Abbott who first felt that ageing parents from Indian-subcontinent needed help to avoid the social isolation.
“No doubt staying with children and grandchildren gives them happiness. But a lot of time they’re left alone at home. So we had discussions to form this club which now assists over 200 seniors,” said Mr Abbott.
"The initial impetus to form this club was provided by community social worker Jasvinder Sidhu.
Mr Abbott told SBS Punjabi that they've many projects to keep seniors active and engaged.
"To name a few, we run knitting sessions, Bollywood dance and singing group, Yoga and meditation classes, English language and computer literacy classes," he said.
“These projects have transformed the lives of so many. To give an example, now most seniors are connected via Facebook and WhatsApp, two applications perceived beneficial only to the young people.
“Seniors interact via WhatsApp and share information, their feelings and enjoy life. They visit Melbourne CBD on regular basis to get to know the city and its people.
"We also organise train and bus trips to regional Victoria and tourists towns.
Moving into a new direction the club recently received a grant of $4,000 from the office of Joanne Ryan, Federal Member of Lalor. This grant is part of Federal Government funding known as Stronger Communities Grant.
With this grant more than fifty seniors play various sports at a local sports complex in Werribee at Eagle Stadium twice a week.
Club 60 recently held their first tournament and invited Joanne Ryan MP and Jasvinder Sidhu to thank them for their support and contribution.

Jasvinder Sidhu told SBS that club’s success story shows that aging in a new country where language and culture are not familiar is not always a tough situation.
“Migration at old age can be made easier and enjoyful with such projects that assist you to connect with your new country and participate in social activities, culture and sports,” said Mr Sidhu.
Joanne Ryan MP Federal Member for Lalor said that Club 60 is a great initiative which is engaging seniors in the community whilst keeping them fit and healthy.
“It was great to be on court playing volleyball and badminton with members of Tarneit’s Club 60 who received a $4,000 Stronger Communities Grant,” said Ms Ryan.
“These grants are designed to improve participation and contribution to the community.
