Police are investigating two armed robberies that are believed to be linked in Quakers Hill, NSW.
On two separate occasions, the group of four to six men targeted two elderly men with a hammer and punches.
Robbery victim Nahar Singh, 67, told that he was treated for a suspected broken nose and was taken to Blacktown Hospital for medical check-up.
“I rarely use public transport. On that night (9:30pm) when I got down from the bus I was followed by a group of men who approached me to ask ‘time’,” said Mr Singh.
“To my surprise, it happened just near my residence. My house is about 50 metres away from the spot where I was punched in the nose.”
“The men then searched my pockets but there was not much in it. So they left the scene empty handed.”
“I was shaken. I am in Australia from 2009 but I never thought it could happen to me.”
“I routinely go for evening walks but from now on I would refrain to do so. I’d also request the people especially of my age to be vigilant when they go out in the late evenings.”
“I want to alert people about this attack and would request them to stay vigilant.”
“Be active, be alert, and be safe that is my message to everyone listening.”
“We are living in fear. We used to have a police station in Quake Hills, which is now shifted to somewhere else.”
“Everyone in the area is aware of some thugs who are roaming around in the streets. I would request police to increase their patrolling to give us at least a sense of security,” adds Mr Singh.
In another incidence on Wednesday 19 July 2017, the group of four to six men threatened the 59-year-old man and demanded money.
Police were told that one of the men hit the elderly man with a hammer and a second one punched him.
The men have taken the wallet of the man and then left the scene on foot.
Officers from Quakers Hill Local Area Command are investigating both incidents and wish to speak to a group of men who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The first man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, in his twenties and about 165cm tall. He was seen wearing a light coloured baseball cap and a short sleeve shirt.
The second man is describe as being Caucasian in appearance, in his twenties, about 180cm tall with a large build. He was seen wearing a green coloured jacket and carrying a bag.
The third man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, in his twenties, about 170cm with a medium build. He was seen wearing a white shirt.
Police were unable to get a description of other men who may have been with the group at the time of the incident.
