Indian national visiting family in Australia dies in horror crash

Mr Singh's car was crushed between two trucks when he was travelling with his brother and nephew in Perth.

An Indian national has died and two others were injured in a road crash involving two trucks and a car in Perth.

The deceased has been identified as 66-year-old Gurbir Singh, a Sikh missionary from Chandigarh who was visiting his sons in Australia.

Mr Singh’s nephew Guneet (22)- a student in Perth, was driving the car at the time of the crash. He suffered a fractured leg and will undergo a surgery today. Daljit Singh (69), Gurbir Singh’s brother was also travelling with them and suffered minor injuries.
The crash occurred on Jandakot Road in South of Perth on Monday afternoon when the Toyota Camry the trio was travelling in was crushed between two trucks. All the three vehicles were travelling in the same direction.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and had to toil for several hours before they could cut open the car and freed Guneet Singh and Gurbir Singh from the wreckage wedged between two trucks. Gurbir Singh had died at the scene.

Guneet Singh and Daljit Singh were taken to Royal Perth Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Both the truck drivers were not injured in the crash. The major crash investigators are investigating what caused the crash.

Mr Singh’s son Harpreet lives in Perth. He SBS Punjabi that his father used to frequently visit them in Perth.
