A 22-year-old international student from India was caught in a police sting targeting child sex predators. On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to one charge of procuring a child for sex over the internet, has reported. The offence carries a maximum of 14 years in Jail.
In December last year, he told an undercover police officer that he wanted oral sex from the boy in a dark place, believing the officer to be a 14-year-old boy.
The international student later met with the officer and was arrested by the special task force targeting online sex offenders, reported.
The Prosecutor told the court that he intended to sexually abuse a young boy.
Having already spent 165 days in prison on remand, he was sentenced to a suspended 15-month jail term.
He is set to be deported to India and has been living in an immigration detention centre for two months.
He had arrived in Australia on a student visa in 2014. Although he was enrolled in an information technology course, instead chose to study cookery, the court was told.
He was working at a pizza outlet when he was arrested.
