The suspect Anthony O'Donohue was not required to attend court, and the case was adjourned for a future hearing.

Family spokesperson Parveen Gupta told SBS Punjabi that there was no formal court hearing today, rather a 'mention' or a 'call over' regarding the slain Brisbane bus driver's case, where administrative aspects of the case were assessed.

Mr Gupta added that the suspect faces another hearing on Feb 2, 2017, in connection to other victims' complaints against Mr O'Donohue about his actions on the same day that Manmeet Alisher was burnt alive. Like today, Mr Gupta expects the Feb 2 hearing to be adjourned without any further developments, with both the cases to be heard in a consolidated hearing at a later date, perhaps after a few months.

Manmeet Alisher's cousin, Varinder Alisher also spoke to SBS Punjabi about the presence of nearly 200 people outside Brisbane Magistrate's court today, demanding "Justice for Manmeet". They stood peacefully outside the court from 11am until 12 noon, and were addressed by members of the Bus line and transport workers union.

According to Varinder, people young and old, male and female, representing all communities and ethnicities were present.

Varinder Alisher also read out eight 'demands" on behalf of the community, regarding this trial - you can hear them all in the interview.
