Ravneet Singh, a turban wearing Sikh man from Punjab, has been allegedly racially targeted outside Parliament building in Westminster, London.

Mr Singh told SBS Punjabi that incident occurred when he was in the queue outside Portcullis House to meet with Labour MP for Slough, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi.

“This erratic guy ran up to us. Just before we got to the entrance he came up to me and suddenly attacked leaving me shocked and stunned,” he said.

"He was pulling at his turban strongly. My turban was half moved. Before he could do anything else I shouted at him ‘what is this’ and he ran away.

“He was very vague and his vocals were not very clear. He didn't seem to be English. The only thing I could understand was when he shouted ‘Muslims go back'.
Ravneet Singh is South Asia Manager of an NGO EcoSikh. He was in UK on a three-week trip to promote his association’s environmental action program.

He was supposed to meet Dhesi regarding the upcoming World Sikh Environment Day on Mary 14th to establish EcoSikh as an environmental charity in the UK.

Labour MP for Slough, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi has condemned the attack.

He shared a picture of his guest on Twitter and wrote: ‘Disgusted to discover today that someone filled with hatred tried to pull off the turban of one of my guests standing in line outside UK Parliament. ‘I hope the Met Police/authorities will take urgent action.’
