A Brisbane cab driver was tied and robbed in his taxi by a man who hailed a ride in it.

42-year-old Mohammad Faiyaz’s hands were tied behind his seat after the 34-year-old passenger produced a knife in Ipswich, east of Brisbane.

“He asked me to put my hands behind the back and tied them with a cable.

“I thought that was the end of it, I was going to lose my life,” Mohammad Faiyaz told .
The passenger then took cash from the cab and fled the scene.

Mohammad managed to alert the taxi base by pressing activating an alarm button with his knee.

His hands still tied behind his back, he first couldn’t answer his phone that was at the floor of the cab. He then took out his shoe and used his toe to dial the number to seek help.

He was freed by the police that arrived at the scene a short time later.

The police dog squad arrested the accused from a house at a short distance from where he tied and robbed Mohammad in his taxi.

The accused has been charged with armed robbery, fraud and contravene direction and did not apply for bail on Monday, The Queensland Times reported.
