VIDEO: Indian jewellery shop robbed at gun point

Police detectives are surprised by the audacious crime which took place during the day time when a lot of shoppers are still around.

A jewellery shop in Reservoir in Melbourne's north was robbed at gunpoint on Saturday.

Three masked men are seen on security camera smashing their way into the jewellery store and pointing a gun at the store owner.
Police said the owner of Dev Jewellers was alone in his store on Saturday afternoon when three masked men stormed into the shop.

One of the robbers was armed with a shotgun and another had a wheel brace that he used to smash the glass cabinet holding jewellery.

The robbers fled in a getaway car with large amount of jewellery and cash from the shop, and can be seen on CCTV filling up a black sports bag before fleeing.

Detective Sergeant Rick Fletcher said he was surprised by the audacious crime.

“I am very surprised that they would do it at that time of the day when there are still a lot of shoppers about,” he said.

Police do not have any leads so far and the CCTV footage of the incident was being reviewed.

Nobody was injured as a result of the robbery.

Victoria Police detectives have released the footage and images of the three men and are calling on the public to help identify the men.

The offenders have been described as tall, with thin builds.

One man wore a black jumper, black pants and shoes, and had his head covered in a white material wrapping at the time of the robbery.
