An Australian tourist says she heard a woman and man screaming "hysterically" on the night Sara Connor and her British boyfriend are accused of killing a Bali police officer on Kuta Beach.

Kim Watson says she and her sister Coleen Bowen were staying in separate rooms at the Pullman Hotel opposite the popular Bali Beach on August 16, 2016 when she heard loud screams about 1.30am.

"I could hear a lady screaming very loudly and hysterically and she also yelled 'leave him alone and get off of him'," "Ms Watson told Connor's trial at Denpasar Court on Tuesday.

She also heard a man scream and say "Get off her, you f**king c**t".

Getting out of bed but too "scared" to go out on the veranda, Ms Watson said she listened from the window.

"It all happened very quickly," she said, adding later "I think it all took place within 30 seconds".

Eventually, Ms Watson fell asleep, waking about six hours later to discover police and police tape on Kuta Beach.

"I thought a man and a woman had been murdered or attacked or something bad (had happened)."

Her daughter later texted her to say there were Australian news reports a police officer had been killed.

Upon returning to Australian Ms Watson said her sister, who also heard the screaming, contacted the Australian Federal Police on their behalf.

"From what we heard, we thought it sounded like the male and female were being attacked," she added.

Connor and her British boyfriend David Taylor are accused of killing Bali police officer Wayan Sudarsa, whose bloodied body was found covered in sand in the early hours of August 17. They face charges of murder, fatal assault in company and assault causing death.

Connor says she did nothing but try to separate Taylor and Mr Sudarsa, while Taylor says he acted in self-defence.

The court has previously heard Connor's family and friends in her NSW hometown of Byron Bay held a concert in December last year to raise money to fund Ms Bowen and Ms Watson's trip to Bali to testify at the trial.

The hearing continues.
