David Feeney's excuse that a "maelstrom of events" led to him not declaring a $2.3 million property in his parliamentary interests isn't good enough for Greens leader Richard Di Natale.
Senator Di Natale said it appeared the Labor MP - whose inner-city Melbourne seat of Batman is under attack from the Greens - had made "one hell of an oversight".
"I think he's got some serious answers to give and so far the explanation he's given falls well short," Senator Di Natale told reporters in Sydney on Wednesday.
Senator Di Natale has not updated his senators' register of interests for almost two years, but stopped short of ruling out any oversights of his own.
"I can definitely say that I haven't purchased a $2.3 million property - I reckon I would have remembered that," he said.
"I don't think I've purchased anything in that ball park and I reckon if I did there'd be a good chance it'd find its way onto my register of interests."
Senator Di Natale's register includes a property in North Melbourne which he said needed a bit of work but was not negatively geared.
