Jennifer Hawkins has defended Donald Trump after a video emerged of an awkward conversation between the pair in front of a live audience.
The former Miss Universe says Mr Trump has always respected her.
"Just on that whole subject, Donald and his family I have to say, have always been respectful to me," the 32-year-old told News Corp at Derby Day racing celebrations in Melbourne on Saturday.
"So as much as everyone wants me to bag him, it's not in my nature. I don't like drama, I don't like to get into politics publicly, so that's why I've kind of, not avoided it, just haven't openly been out there."
Her comments follow the release of a video where Mr Trump makes lewd comments about Hawkins and tells an audience he had planned on exacting revenge because she had refused to introduce him at the National Achievers Congress in Sydney in 2011.
"I believe, get even with people, if they screw you, screw them back, 10 times harder. And I'll give you an example, Jennifer Hawkins," he said.
He then called out for the supermodel to join him on stage, where she apologised because there had been a miscommunication about the event with her management.
"There was a miscommunication, of course I wanted to come here ... I'm sorry," she said after joining Mr Trump on stage.
Mr Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, then tells guests he was going to make fun of her intellect, then turns to making lewd comments.
"She came tonight, she came, came, she came, she came," he said, prompting laughter from the crowd.
"See, so they have the same filthy minds in Australia."
Hawkins replies: "As you."
He then attempts to kiss Hawkins, and lands one on her cheek before she asks to return to her seat.
Hawkins has denied avoiding the media so she doesn't have to comment on the video.
"It's not that I've been avoiding the subject. It's just that I've been busy selling my house and focusing on my work," she said on Saturday.
