A parliamentary commission of inquiry into the banking sector is on the cards after Nationals MP George Christensen indicated he would support a move by the Greens.
But if he has to cross the floor of parliament, he doesn't want that to be seen as a lack of confidence in the Turnbull government.
"I just think we need to go forward, and to vote for a bill that the government might not support doesn't mean that I'm against the government," Mr Christensen told ABC radio on Tuesday.
