Sally Pearson is adamant that another injury setback won't derail her bid for an unprecedented third 100m hurdles world title.

The self-coached Pearson suffered a "small hamstring strain" at training on Thursday, which is set to sideline her for up to three weeks.

It forced the 32-year-old to pull out of an upcoming campaign in Europe where she was scheduled to race in Lucerne and at the prestigious Diamond League meets in Monaco and London in July.

"Unfortunately, after weeks of intense sprinting and hurdles, I had a minor training mishap this morning," Pearson said in an Instagram post on Thursday night.

"Scans have revealed a small hamstring strain, with an expected 2-3 week recovery.

"Although the injury is not serious, I can't compete at events scheduled for Lucerne - Monaco - London.

"London, as you all know, is home to two of my most prized moments in my career ... winning Olympic gold in 2012 and my reigning world championship title.

"Needless to say I am disappointed but thankfully the hamstring injury is only a minor setback and won't impede my preparations for this year's world championships in Doha."

Pearson has suffered a wretched run on the fitness front in recent years.

A series of serious wrist, Achilles and hamstring injuries caused her to miss the 2015 world titles and the 2016 Rio Olympics, while she was also forced out of her home Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast last year due to an Achilles problem.

But in between those setbacks was her stunning gold-medal triumph at the 2017 world championships in London.

Pearson also won the global 100m hurdles title in 2011 and is aiming to become the first Australian track and field athlete to win three world championships gold medals.

The opening round of the 100m hurdles at this year's world championships in Doha is on October 5.
