Trevor Duroux died last month after he was punched in the back of the head outside the Coolangatta Hotel, causing him to go in to cardiac arrest.
Emergency services rushed Mr Duroux to Gold Coast University Hospital where he was put on life-support and placed in an induced coma, until he sadly passed away ten days later.
The gofundme page was created last month to help to cover the ongoing costs for Trevor’s five children.
The Duroux family had endured a tough couple of years after Trevor lost his wife to cancer in 2014.
Over two hundred people farewelled Duroux on Wednesday at a service in the New South Wales town of Tenterfield, where his family is from.

Trevor has been described as a big kid, a jokester who’d lived to make his family laugh. He’d loved his six kids fiercely and he was a favourite with nieces and nephews.
His partner Joanne Campbell had nothing but warm words for the popular 40-year-old, saying “he sure was one of a kind. God broke the mould when he made him. I will never nor have ever met someone with such a warm and blessed heart as he had,” she told NITV.
“Trevor was the most loving person anyone could meet not a violent person in anyway shape or form everyone who knew him or met him loved him and his personality.”
An 18-year-old New Zealand national has been charged over his death. The original charge of causing grievous bodily harm is expected to be upgraded to unlawful striking causing death.
The charge was introduced last year as part of the ‘Safe Night Out' legislation aimed at combating alcohol and drug-fuelled violence.
