Beach volleyballers Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar are in line to break Australia's 16 year drought, after winning their semi-final match against Latvia Thursday.
Clancy, a Wulli Wulli and Goreng Goreng woman, is the first Indigenous volleyball player to represent the country at the Olympic level.
She and teammate Artacho del Solar will step onto the sand on Friday for their final clash at Shiokaze Park, going head to head with the US team.
Speaking after the match, Clancy referenced the last Australian team to bring home volleyball gold.
"Yes, Nat's kept in touch with us and we know Kerry is building us up in the commentary, thank you for that," she told Channel 7.
"They've kept in touch, are one of our biggest cheer leaders and they saw that fire and ability in gold for us. So grateful for their time."
Looking forward to the match ahead, Clancy was bullish.
"Australia vs USA, gold medal match, let's go, bring it on!"
