Year 10 student Ineka Voigt from Canberra High School has won Australia's competition for her artistic depiction of the pain experienced by the Stolen Generations.

Her design, which was created to this year's theme "If I could travel back in time I would", was selected from 24,000 submissions, 320 state and territory finalists, 32 year group winners and four national year group winners.
If I could travel back in time I would reunite mother and child
"If I could travel back in time I would reunite mother and child," she wrote in her submission to Google. "A weeping mother sits in an ochre desert, dreaming of her children and a life that never was... all that remains is red sand, tears and the whispers of her stolen dreamtime."

The Stolen Generations are Indigenous people who were targeted by the Australian government's policies of assimilation through the 20th Century.
These policies forcibly removed Indigenous children from their families to grow them up in boarding arrangements or adopted families that imparted the Anglo-Saxon way of life, leaving a legacy of trauma.
