A 44-year-old Noongar woman died in custody on Saturday, after she was rushed from Western Australia's Bandyup Women's Prison to hospital following a heart attack, authorities have confirmed.
The woman, whom NITV is not naming, had been on remand at Bandyup prison and was being treated at the hospital when she went into cardiac arrest on Saturday night.
Corrective Services Commissioner James McMahon expressed his condolences to her family and friends.
As with all deaths in custody, an investigation will be conducted by police on behalf of the coroner to determine the circumstances and cause of her death.

She died at Port Headland lock up, where she was being held for unpaid fines worth $3622.
