A 49-year-old Aboriginal woman was stabbed to death in front of her three children in Melbourne's south-east last week.

Victoria Police confirmed that officers attended an address at Whitby Way in Seaford near Frankston at around 4.40pm on Tuesday, where a woman was found with stab wounds.

Paramedics arrived within minutes, and worked on the woman, however she died at the scene.

Channel Nine reported that neighbours heard yelling moments before the 49-year-old woman came running from her home into the street.

"She was yelling my name, just like 'Mick, call the cops'," a neighbour named Michael told media.
