NITV hits the road with Troy Cassar-Daley as he performs for remote QLD communities

'Sing About This Country' follows country music star Troy Cassar-Daley as he and The Black Image Band bring their music to Queensland’s Cape York Peninsula.

NITV is proud to give Australian audiences exclusive access to a unique tour from Troy Cassar-Daley in Sing About This Country.

The feature documentary follows country music star Troy Cassar-Daley and his friends from The Black Image Band, brothers Cliff Harrigan, Pando Harrigan, Dylan Harrigan and Porky Harrigan, as they tour and perform in Indigenous communities throughout Queensland’s Cape York Peninsula.

Sing About This Country is a story of friendship, family and brotherhood, set amidst the backdrop of stunning remote landscapes and showcasing musical performances like no other.

Follow the group as they bring their music to isolated communities, culminating in a hometown performance in Cooktown in front of their family and friends, as well as a lively audience enjoying some good quality country music.  

Troy Cassar-Daley said the tour felt more about rekindling old friendships and reminiscing about good times past than performing to music-loving crowds.

“Every now and then you get to do something that fills your heart and soul to the brim," Cassar-Daley said. "We got to feel the old people’s spirits around us as we travelled, heal together, play music together and sing about this amazing country of ours.”

Tanya Denning-Orman, Director of Indigenous Content at SBS, said country music and the beautiful Cape York Peninsula is a marvellous combination.

"It’s a joy to have Troy and The Black Image Band take us all on this adventure," Denning-Orman said.

“Music is at the heart and soul of First Nations culture, and we cannot wait to launch our new music documentary programming slate with the brilliant Sing About This Country.”

 

Sing About This Country airs Saturday 18 December at 7.30pm and will lead a new NITV music programming slate, with a music documentary airing every Saturday.
