Northern Territory Senator Nigel Scullion has been returned to the top Nationals position in the Senate but it's unclear whether he will remain the Indigenous Affairs Minister.
At a Nationals Party meeting yesterday, Senator Scullion was re-elected unopposed as the Leader of the Nationals in the Senate.
The Nationals leader, Barnaby Joyce, is meeting with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in Canberra today to discuss ministerial positions for the Nationals in a Coalition government.
Nigel Scullion, also a member of the Country Liberal Party, has been Indigenous Affairs Minister since 2013.
The Norther Territory Senator entered parliament in 2001 and has overseen numerous changes to the Indigenous Affairs portfolio, including the introduction of the , a controversial new model for organisations receiving Indigenous funding. It's been labelled unfair and discriminatory and has been subject to a parliamentary inquiry.
He has also been involved in high-profile feuds with the Indigenous Land Corporation and the Northern Land Council.
