NITV is proud to announce the premiere of a fresh new season of foodie favourite, On Country Kitchen, this October.

On Country Kitchen returns for a second season on Wednesday 23rd October at 7.30pm AEDT, helmed by celebrity chef and Bundjalung man Mark Olive (aka the ‘Black Olive’) - a renowned Indigenous chef who boasts over 30 years’ experience cooking. The six-part series is a delicious twist of adventure through South East New South Wales, as the characters seek out the freshest produce to create mouth-watering dishes.

Mark has a passion for fusing native bush ingredients with contemporary cooking techniques to create a dynamic and unique gastronomic philosophy. His charismatic personality and creative approach to food has helped him build a reputation and large following in Australia and around the world.

Mark’s right hand man, Western Australian comic and Noongar man, Derek Nannup, is eager to learn cooking skills from Mark and put them to the test. A renaissance man, Derek is a comedian, actor, dancer, circus performer, didgeridoo player, children’s hospital clown doctor and cultural presenter, making him a hilarious companion throughout the series. But can he keep up with Mark? Together Mark and Derek hunt down local, fresh produce, in turn meeting farmers, community members and local Indigenous characters from around New South Wales’ spectacular countryside and coast.

On Country Kitchen takes the complexity out of cooking, and offers simple tips and tricks that will invigorate kitchens Australia-wide, with a special touch from our own backyard. As Mark opens his culinary world to Derek using native insights, the duo not only cook up mouth-watering dishes, but a bit of fun too – and not least without celebrating local Indigenous places, characters and cultures along the way!

“We’re very excited to have On Country Kitchen back on our screens. We can’t wait to explore unique aspects of the culinary world that the whole family can enjoy” said NITV's Channel Manager, Tanya Orman.

“The NSW Government is determined to continue turbocharging rural and regional tourism and share the best of the Bush, spectacular coastline and our wonderful local produce with the world" NSW Minister for Tourism, Stuart Ayres said.

“Securing media coverage, including segments on popular TV shows like On Country Kitchen, helps to promote our State and its culinary experiences to a wide audience and inspires people to look to regional NSW when planning their next holiday.”

On Country Kitchen is a Mago Films production, commissioned by NITV, with assistance from Screenwest, Lotterywest and the NSW Government via Destination NSW and Destination Sydney Surrounds South.

Produced by Marian Bartsch and directed by Karla Hart.

On Country Kitchen airs Wednesdays at 7.30pm on NITV from 23 October. Episodes will be available after broadcast anytime, anywhere, on your favourite device via SBS On Demand.
