Third-generation Mundine boxer impresses in pro debut

With father Anthony and grandfather Tony in his corner, Rahim 'CJ' Mundine looked slick in his first foray into the ring.

The Mundine family has provided another potential Australian boxing star with 20-year-old Rahim or 'CJ' impressing in his professional debut on Wednesday.

The light heavyweight scored a unanimous points victory in a four-round contest against Fijian Lepani Levatia, with his father and grandfather in his corner

Fans were quick to point out a lot of similarities in styles with the youngest Mundine and his father, including some slick movements and composure as he let his hands fly.
Mundine Jr said the fight gave him the boxing bug, but he's also largely focused on his footy career as he pushes for an NRL start with Wests Tigers.

"A good experience for me given I've never had any amateur or pro fights ... I want to do it again in the future," he said.

"My main goal right now is just to crack it in league. I had a bit of a down year last year, I was playing NSW Cup, debuted when I was 19 but got injured early in the season. So I'm just here to start my 2022 off with a bang."

Fleming wins war

Meanwhile, Murri super featherweight Paul Fleming won an absolute war against Jackson England in what some have labelled the fight of the year already.

The Wakka Wakka man claimed five regional belts with his unanimous 10-round points win despite being knocked down in the second round.

Both men were battered and bruised following the scrap in which both fighters threw over 600 punches.

In the main event, former cross-code footy star Sonny Bill Williams knocked out ex-AFL legend Barry Hall in two minutes in a mismatch.

Williams entered the ring nine years younger than his opponent with an 11kg weight advantage, and he wasted no time using it.

Hall apologised after the fight, saying he was nervous.
