A video taken yesterday showing a man and his teenage son allegedly assaulting an Indigenous boy has surfaced online.

The video shows a man and a teenage boy following an Indigenous boy before the teenage boy starts shoving the Indigenous boy. He then grabs the Indigenous boy by the throat and throws him against an embankment wall before knocking him to the ground then grabbing him around the throat and neck and repeatedly punching him in the torso and then the head.

The man stands over the Indigenous boy while this takes place and makes a series of verbal threats. The teenage boy then pushes the Indigenous boy onto his back on the ground a second time and punches him in the body and head again.
A spokeswoman for South Australian Police said a man and a 14-year-old boy had been arrested in relation to the incident and charged with aggravated assault.

"Please note that the incident arose following an earlier altercation between the people involved, who are known to each other," she told NITV News.

"This was not a random incident and Police would stress that responsible reporting of this incident is vital to avoid generating unnecessary public fear."

The Indigenous teen's sister expressed her distress over the incident shortly after the video emerged on Facebook

"I’m absolutely disgusted by this town! I’m literally in tears and shaking watching the video!!! Thanks to everyone messaging, I know my brothers not always in the right but he sure doesn’t deserve this," she wrote on Facebook after the video appeared online.
