'Yargh': Crowdfunding website sinks pirate-ship protest over Captain Cook

It is one of many efforts mocking plans to spend millions to have a replica of a historic ship circumnavigate the country.

An online fundraiser to “build a pirate ship” and sink a replica of James Cook's ship the Endeavour has itself been scuttled.

The campaign was organised by comedian Jordan Raskopoulos after the government announced it would to mark the anniversary of Cook's first voyage to Australia and the Pacific.

The fundraiser was suspended by the GoFundMe website, which said it cannot process payments for “knives, explosives, ammunition, firearms, or other weaponry”.
Raskopoulos, who has previously suggested the changing the date of Australia Day to May 8, said that the plan was for a “pirate-themed theatrical protest” not terrorism.

“Yargh,” she told NITV.

“Scott Morrison is a salty dog and if he wants to sink taxpayer doubloons into a glorification of Colonialism then he’d better watch out for pirates!”
