Queensland Opposition leader, Deb Frecklington, said she was "unaware" that a suspended Young LNP member previously suspended from the party for racist comments had been involved in the election campaign of LNP candidate for Redcliffe.
On Monday, suspended Young LNP member, Jake Scott, was caught on camera by Seven News campaigning with LNP candidate Kerri-Anne Dooley.
Mr Scott was dressed in the LNP's blue t-shirt and hat and was handing out flyers alongside the LNP candidate.
However, he quickly left the area when approached by Seven News, who then asked Ms Dooley why the disgraced Young Liberal was there despite supposedly being suspended by the party over a racist video that emerged in December last year.
Ms Dooley refused to comment.
On Tuesday, Opposition leader Ms Frecklington said she was unaware Mr Scott was being used as a volunteer by the Redcliffe candidate and called his comments made last year "abhorrent" and "racist".
The Opposition leader said Mr Scott had since been removed from the Redcliffe campaign.
In December last year, Mr Scott was filmed being interviewed by another Young LNP member at Schoolies on the Gold Coast, where he provided his views on the Australian flag and national anthem.
“Personally I’m fed up with having all these sports’ stars stand out on our stages and not sing the national anthem...they’re putting our Australian jumper on...they gotta sing the anthem," said Mr Scott.
“I mean, we gotta stop celebrating a culture that didn’t even invent the bloody wheel for god’s sake.
“We gotta start enjoying and living in western culture.”
The emergence of Mr Scott's involvement in Ms Dooley's campaign comes after the candidate for Redcliffe posted a photograph of herself and to social media in 2017.
Indigenous MP Leeanne Enoch called on the QLD Opposition to dump Ms Dooley as a candidate after that incident.
