One of our successful female motorsports talents, Taylor is an Australian Rally Champion and current leader of the Extreme E Championship - an international off-road racing series using entirely electric cars currently in its inaugural season.

Taylor will participate in her first Dakar Rally when the 13-stage event embarks from the Saudi Arabian city of Ha'il on the 2nd of January, where drivers will journey through a desert the size of France in the Arabian Peninsula.

The 33-year-old announced the news whilst reporting at the Supercars Championship in Sydney on the weekend, recognising the opportunity as 'a dream come true' and one she has been excited to take on for years since her racing debut in 2011.
“I’m incredibly excited to be taking on Dakar as a member of the Can Am Factory South Racing team but also fully appreciate the challenge that lies ahead," Taylor said.

"This discipline is a new world for me and of course there’s pressure to learn quickly and to do well but I know the team all of whom are experienced drivers are there to support me and have put in place everything possible to see me succeed.”
She will be joined in the car by veteran co-driver Dale Moscatt, the pair set to reunite for South Racing after first teaming up at the 2007 and 2008 Australian Rally Championships.

“It is great to have Molly and Dale joining us here at South Racing," Scott Abraham, CEO of South Racing said.

"Molly recently spent some time with the team at a debut event in Abu Dhabi and we are looking forward to the incredible adventure that Dakar will no doubt deliver.

"As a four-time Dakar winning team South Racing will ensure that Molly has the support of a great international team on her first foray into Marathon Rallying.”
