The Bullets have been inconsistent this season, but the last few games proving especially difficult - they lost four of their last five by double digits.

Currently sitting in sixth - having won just 10 of 22 matches - Brisbane have confirmed the signing of BJ Johnson as the club’s newest import, for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

Johnson has spent the last season as part of the Long Island Nets G League squad.

His end of season average stats included: 18.4 points per game, 41.1% from the field, 84.3% from the free-throw line and 5.6 rebounds.

The 25-year-old will land in Australia in the next few days before fulfilling his mandatory two-week quarantine period.

General Manager of Basketball, Sam Mackinnon, is keen for Johnson to join the playing group.

“Due to quarantine we won’t see BJ play until May but we look forward to adding him to the group,” Mackinnon said.
The Bullets will have to begin their quest to turn around their season without Johnson when they take on the Wildcats in Perth on Friday night - which you can watch LIVE, FREE and in HD on SBS On Demand.

NBL expert, Liam Santamaria says their current form means their season is on the line.

“I don’t understand how that (their recent heavy losses) happens. They come out against Melbourne the week before and give up 58 points in the first half,” Santamaria said on NBL Overtime.

“And then they turn up down in Tassie against New Zealand and give up 56 in the first half! How does that happen?

“There are too many good players, this is an elite coaching staff, for that to happen.

“That’s why I say their season is on the line right now. They’re 10 (wins) and 12 (losses), help (Johnson) is on the way, but in this next couple of weeks they really need to buckle down and get some work done.”
