Froome 'not ashamed' of using asthma inhaler

Chris Froome said overnight his inhaler use was "not something to be ashamed of" after his Sept 7 Vuelta a Espana urine test showed excess levels of Salbutamol, an asthma medication.

Froome in a Tweet appearing to create awareness of asthma, said "it's sad seeing the misconceptions that are out there about athletes and salbutamol use."

It followed the news the 32-year-old was found to have twice the permitted levels of the asthma drug in a test after stage 18 of the Vuelta.
The four-time Tour de France champion risks a ban from cycling and admits the news chinks his reputation, but  continues to insist he did not break any rules.
Meanwhile, German cyclist Tony Martin also shared his thoughts about the news:

While Martin's interpretations of the rules are not entirely correct - i.e. Froome's indiscretion is an adverse analytical finding of an allowed substance rather than a prohibited one, and as such does not require an immediate suspension - his anger reverberates throughout a sport exhausted by decades of its icons felled by murkiness or worse.
