Roglic leads Slovenia to Yorkshire worlds

Fresh from winning the Vuelta a España, the Slovenian Cycling Federation has unsurprisingly selected Primoz Roglic to lead its team at the UCI Road World Championships in Yorkshire.

Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) will feature in both the road race, where he's unlikely to be a winning factor and the time trial, a better bet for a medal in an event where Australian Rohan Dennis (Bahrain-Merida) will be the favourite.

He will also ride the unique debut of a mixed team time trial held on the first day of the event alongside Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), Jan Tratnik (Bahrain-Merida).

Three from the women's BTC City Ljubljana team, Eugenia Bujak, Ursa Pintar and Urska Bravec will join Roglic in the mixed time trial as well as fulfilling commitments in the road race and individual time trial.
Also in the men's road race line-up is 20-year-old Pogacar who was the breakthrough rider at the Vuelta with two stage wins, best young rider jersey and the third spot on the podium.

Roglic and Pogacar are likely to throw their support behind one of the outside road race favourites, Matej Mohoric (Bahrain-Merida), who at 24 is already a dual Grand Tour stage winner, national champion and with a number of other important victories under his belt.

Mohoric, a former under 23 world champion (2013), is now a hardened professional and rider well suited to the repeated climbing to come during the 285km race set for 29 September and should show his hand in the run-up to the finale in Harrogate.

Grega Bole (Bahrain Merida), David Per (Adria Mobil) and Jan Polanc (UAE-Team Emirates) round out the men's team.

SBS will stream selected events from the 2019 UCI Road World Championships from 22-29 September on SBS On Demand and our website with live TV coverage of the women's and men's road races scheduled for SBS Viceland.
