Landon was named competition manager for the Olympic basketball tournament and witnessed the Opals claim the silver medal in what was a "wonderful" time for the sport.
Her vast experience at all levels of Australian basketball - dating back to 1968 - also saw her manage several Paralympic sports, including wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby.
The 74-year-old believes the Sydney Games helped foster basketball's growth in Australia, with the Opals' success helping to attract a nationwide interest never before felt on home soil.
"It was a big job, but I had a great team and it was just fabulous," Landon said during the latest episode of TAB Courtside 1v1 on SBS.
"It was sort of like one of those things in your lifetime you'll never forget, (something) you sort of remember almost every day.
"I remember the good vibes and the good spirit that people had, and it was almost like you wanted to bottle it so that when we were being naughty again, you could sprinkle it around and everybody would be happy and good natured and kind, and all those things.
"But it was a wonderful time for basketball and wonderful in the sense that I think people saw how good our sport was and that was wonderful for me because I had some opportunities prior to that to be overseas with the Opals in '84 and '88 at the Olympics.
"So, I was just so pleased that it could be here in Sydney and, you know, we did a great job."
Landon will now turn her attention to next year’s FIBA Women’s World Cup, where the Opals will once again return to Sydney looking to land the championship for just the second time.
