Mat Ryan will start in goal at his third FIFA World Cup, with Danny Vukovic and Peru penalty shoot-out hero Andrew Redmayne backing him up with the surprise omission of Mitch Langerak, who had come out of international retirement to fight for a place in Qatar.

Exciting recent debutants Garang Kuol and Jason Cummings have both been included, the Central Coast Mariners duo both making their first starts and impressing in September against New Zealand.

Defenders Kye Rowles and Harry Souttar have been selected despite only just returning from injury in their club competitions.
Budding star Ajdin Hrustic has been named for his first World Cup, with his fitness unclear having sustained an ankle injury while playing for Hellas Verona just two weeks ago.

Mathew Leckie makes his third straight World Cup squad for the Socceroos while Melbourne City teammate Jamie Maclaren has been selected for his second straight appearance at the tournament.

Joining Maclaren, 2022 will be the second World Cup for Vukovic, defenders Miloš Degenek and Aziz Behich and midfielder Aaron Mooy.
That leaves 10 of the 26-man squad with five or fewer caps for the Socceroos with Arnold's side seemingly focused on youth and potential rather than a reliance on experience.

That being said, the vast majority of the players with World Cup experience who have been selected will almost certainly appear in the starting line-up for the Socceroos' first match in Group D against France on November 23.
