Brazilian drag queens Pabllo Vittar and Gloria Groove make history with 'Vogue' covers

"I always knew I was going to get where I am. It is not wrong for you to love yourself, to take care of yourself. People will have to learn to respect you for who you are.”

Two Brazilian drag queens have appeared on the cover of Vogue Brazil, reportedly becoming the first drag queens to grace any cover of Vogue.

For the October issue of the iconic fashion magazine, MTV Award winning drag queen and Latin Grammy winning recording artist Pabllo Vittar - who has a whopping 10 million followers on Instagram - appeared on one cover, with fellow drag queen/rap artist/actor Gloria Groove appearing on another.

"I want, I can, I can do it," Vittar (wearing all Gucci) said in the cover, reports.

"I always knew I was going to get where I am. It is not wrong for you to love yourself, to take care of yourself. People will have to learn to respect you for who you are.”
While Gloria Groove isn't as widely recognised a figure as Vittar, the singer and actor has more than earned her stripes, hosting Netflix's forthcoming drag reality show A Queen is Born, in which Groove mentors new queens into working professionals.

"I came in the car researching Vogue's most iconic covers and absorbing the fact that now it is my turn," she said in the magazine feature.

"I am living a dream and I am thrilled with the invitation because being here positions drag queens as fashion icons."
