Transgender activist, vocal Republican, and former Olympic gold medallist Caitlyn Jenner is set to address the UK Parliament, giving a talk on diversity as part of an annual lecture series broadcast by Channel 4.

According to , a spokesperson for the network said: “The aim of the Channel 4 diversity lecture is to raise awareness and stimulate public debate about diversity issues."
The spokesperson continued: “Caitlyn Jenner is one of the most high-profile transgender people in the world and her transition brought transgender issues into the mainstream, helping to stimulate debate and increase awareness.”
Members of the LGBTIQ+ community were quick to criticise the decision for Jenner to give the talk, citing her longtime Republican political beliefs and Trump apologism, and suggested other activists, including trans actress Laverne Cox.

Taking place at the Churchill room in the House of Commons later this week, the 68-year-old former athlete will join the likes of actors Idris Elba and Riz Ahmed, who have previously taken part in the series.
