Here’s some of the postal survey announcement events you can head along to this Wednesday

The day is finally here ­– after two months of divisive, exhausting campaigning, the results of the Australian Marriage Law Survey are set to be announced by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on their website at 10am tomorrow. 

Australian Marriage Equality (AME) is holding official announcement events all over the country, as a way for the LGBT+ community to come together in solidarity and be surrounded by compassion and positivity—no matter the result. 

AME campaign spokesman Tiernan Brady noted that it is “important that we come together after a long and remarkable journey towards LGBTI equality in Australia.”

Official announcement gatherings will kick off early in the morning—but there’s also a series of parties in the evening for anyone who’s stuck at work during the day (and needs to let off some steam).

Australian Capital Territory

9am-12pm: : Haig Park, top of Lonsdale St.

There will be music, food, games and plenty of LGBTIA+ folks and allies to keep you company and see you through this. We'll be there until 12pm so show up to work late, take the day off and join us or just take an early lunch break.

5pm: at Hopscotch Bar: 5 Lonsdale Street, Braddon, Canberra: 

Whether it is a celebration or commiseration, we will be bringing together the Canberra community in a show of love, support, celebration and positivity. 

New South Wales

9am-12pm: : Prince Alfred Park, Surry Hills.                       

A community gathering with performances from John Paul Young, Alfie Arcuri, Jordan Raskopoulos and DJ Dan Murphy. Speakers include Magda Szubanski, Ian Thorpe, Alex Greenwich, Kerryn Phelps, Lord Mayor Clover Moore, Christine Forster, Tiernan Brady, Janine Middleton and many other leading national supporters of marriage equality. MC, Patrick Abboud will be keeping us on schedule.

9am-10:30: : The Tea Club Nowra: 46 Berry St, Nowra.

Gather together for the announcement of the Postal survey at The Tea Club Berry St Nowra.

2pm: : 2 City Rd, Chippendale, Sydney. 

Come down and celebrate LOVE with us! GiRLTHING DJs, Communal House Collective, shows by Australias premier and original tribute lip syncing parody drag band…The Magda Szubanskis.

Queensland

8am-10am: : Queens Garden Brisbane CBD between George Street, Elizabeth Street and William Street. 

Friends and families are welcome to join the Official Brisbane Results Event at Queens Park/Queens Garden- to acknowledge all the hard work for marriage equality.

8:45am-10am: : 172 Gympie Ter, Noosaville. 

We are gathering on Gympie Terrace to hear the national announcement of the final result of the Postal Survey on Marrriage Equality. Bring some snacks and champagne so we can hear the result among friends and family.

8:30am onwards: Paradiso Cairns: 96 Abbott St, Cairns. 

Watch the result and analysis live at 9 am Queensland time, then from 1pm, Rainbow Flags Galore as we gather in Munro Martin Parklands to discuss and reflect. From 5pm: The Conservatory Bar

South Australia

8am-12pm: : Hindmarsh Sq, Adelaide.

This will be a community gathering. There will be a large screen to view the result live. We are delighted to welcome Alison Coppe and DJ Driller for live performances. MC Zane Dean of Fresh 92.7 will be keeping us on schedule.

Northern Territory

8am-10am:  Wangi Room, Level 1, Oaks Elan Darwin, 31 Woods Street, Darwin. 

This will be a community gathering. There will be screens to view the result and coffee and tea available.

Tasmania

9:30am-11am: : 22 Cascade Road, South Hobart, Tasmania.

Come along and join us at the Cascade Hotel to hear the official announcement of the marriage equality survey results.


 
5pm-7pm: Kingsway Bar: 33 Kingsway, Launceston. 
This has been a very difficult time for many people in our community and we want to show our love and support and look forward to the day when we all have the right to marry whoever we choose. 

5pm-7pm: , hosted by PFLAG Tasmania: Cygnet Community Hub 14 Mary St Cygnet

Please join us for drinks and nibbles at Cygnet Community Hub to celebrate the result of the postal survey and to talk about what's next. Live Music. 

Victoria

9am-12pm: State Library of Victoria, 328 Swanston St, Melbourne.

The Yes field campaign will gather outside State Library for the announcement of the ABS result. 

5:30-11:30pm:  Victorian Trades Hall Council Building: 54 Victoria St, Melbourne.

Melbourne's own, Karen From Finance will take us through the evening. Verrrrry special secret guest bands (shh secret), along with HABITS, Wet Lips, Lubulwa, HEXDEBT, BV, Tanzer, MATKA, Popchops, MinnieTaur, Anna Diction, Zelda Moon, The Ballarat Orchestra + LGBTIQ Choir.

5pm-7pm:  Cafe Lazat & Restaurant: 73 Bentinck St, Portland. 

Skittles and Portland Pride are hosting a Love and Unity event for all on the day of marriage equality survey results. Safe space for all LGBTIQ+, supporters and allies.

Western Australia

6:30am-8:30am: : Northbridge Piazza, Northbridge. 

Come together in the heart of Northbridge and see the ABS announce the survey result on the big screen. Win or lose, let’s face this together.

SBS will broadcast the postal vote results live across TV, online and Facebook at 10am on November 15.
