Kesha and George Takei have teamed up with GLAAD to promote transgender rights in response to President Trump’s recent proposal to ban trans people from serving in the US military.
The celebrities have both uploaded pictures to their social media accounts wearing a black t-shirt emblazoned with the transgender flag that reads: “They make U.S. stronger”.
"I’m so excited to share that George Takei and I have teamed up with GLAAD to spread the love and support transgender people in the military," Kesha wrote on Instagram.
"We're all human, so let's stand up for each other."
Takei is a vocal supporter of transgender equality and he’s previously modelled a shirt that read “You can pee next to me” after North Carolina passed an anti-trans bathroom bill in 2016.
“We must stand on the right side of history. Let’s come together in support of the brave and honourable individuals serving in the military -- ALL of them.
"These courageous Americans not only make the U.S. stronger, they make all of US stronger.”
Takei and Kesha are the latest of a long list of celebrities, politicians and military leaders who have spoken out against President Trump's string of tweets in which he announced transgender health care was a financial burden on the military.
Sia, Rita Ora and The Chainsmokers all appeared in a put together by Billboard, promising to stand with the trans community.
Dozens of former admirals and generals a joint statement this week, saying that transgender people in the military "must not be dismissed, deprived of medically necessary health care, or forced to compromise their integrity or hide their identity."
